You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lamp stand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in Heaven.
Matthew 5:14-16 (NAS)
Hollywood is a city set on a hill. Its glow shines worldwide with the man-made light of entertainment production. However, man-made lights turn off. God's light will not.

Hollywood's celebrities are called stars. Is it ironic that its biggest stars sit flat on the ground?

This ground is called the Hollywood Walk of Fame--currently tread by two types of gazers: eager tourists by day and streetwalkers by night. In added irony, many of the older brass stars embedded in the pavement have become tripping hazards. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce answered with a 'face-lift' estimated at 4.2 million dollars. The first corporate sponsor was Absolut Vodka.

The title 'Light of the World' rightfully belongs to Jesus Christ and His body of believers. However, impostors are claiming His light, 'And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light' (2 Corinthians 11:14).

For God's performers, the time is now to stand upon the hills of Hollywood. When they say, 'lights, camera, action,' you shine for God. Step on top of the Walk of Fame. It is written, 'For behold, the Lord is coming forth from His place. He will come down and tread on the high places of the earth' (Micah 1:3).

Fear not. Be bold. God will empower you to stand with unmistakable talent 'In such a way that they may see your good works.' You will not condemn anyone nor take aim at the lights in place. You will simply shine brighter and be 'Ten times better' (Daniel 1:20) with the excellence, love, and compassion of the true Light, Jesus.

When you win an award, when you see an opening, or when someone asks--give the glory to God. Little by little, this city of Hollywood set on a hill will glow with the light of the Lord.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
