Homesick (Part 6)
I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go; I will counsel you with My Eye upon you.
Psalm 32:8 (NASB)
But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth.
John 16:13 (NASB)
But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, Who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him.
James 1:5 (NASB)
I began as an unconventional Christian. I didn't find Jesus until later in life, which means I wasn't schooled in any church system. My parents raised me in the Episcopal faith. For us, it was cultural, not spiritual.
I became a hard woman in too many ways. So my husband left me on top of a mountain. Jesus met me up there and a new life began. For two years, His Word and Spirit were my Teachers. Beginning quite late, I begged God to learn quickly.
Because I'd stored up fifty-one years of questions. People who called themselves Christians were arrogant. Their prejudice and injustice had nursed my doubts. But God showed pity and took me under His Wing.
What He taught me astounded me. Eight years later, here's what I think: The more I learn, the less I know. Perhaps better said, I'm humbled. Compared to Him, I'm just a child. I can't brag about my wisdom, and I don't like people who do.
Actors, models and talent Christ: Most of you have grown up in good churches. I've met wonderful pastors and parents: role models of faith for me and my house. But if you leave them for the mission field, and you're missing the lack of their guidance, turn to the Rock that is higher than they.
What you will learn may astound you. God will take you under His Wing. So get in His Book every day. Ask Him to fast-track your learning. I believe you will go deeper than wherever you are right now. Because His guidance can't be beat.
Don't drop out of higher education. The entertainment industry needs you.
