Hot Topics... America
In the last days there will be very difficult times. For people will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. They will consider nothing sacred. They will be unloving and unforgiving; they will slander others and have no self-control. They will be cruel and hate what is good. They will betray their friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride, and love pleasure rather than God. They will act religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly.
2 Timothy 3:1-5 (NLT)
America arouses and advertises big passion.*
Many nations hate us--citing racism, materialism, gun-toting, war-mongering and bullying in many forms.
Many watchers love us--seeing freedom, opportunity, celebrity and the sensual pull of entertainment.
We look big, drive fast, sing loud, make films, act out, talk trash, teach tech, spend lots, want more, dress up, flash bling, show skin, work hard and fight tough.
For most of us, America is home and it's all we know. But for the rest of the world, the U.S. is a hot topic.
Consider this plea to my fellow American Christians: Let's use the spotlight God gave us to showcase Christ--not ourselves. The best people I've ever met in my life are here and now.
Let's present a humble church in the midst of a proud nation. Light is most apparent smack dab in the middle of darkness.
