Hot Topics... Christianity's Comfort Zone
Go therefore and make disciples of all nations...
Matthew 28:19 (NKJV)
Go into all the world and preach the Gospel unto every creature.
Mark 16:15 (NKJV)
Repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His Name to all nations... And you are witnesses of these things.
Luke 24:47-48 (NKJV)
As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.
John 20:21 (NKJV)
The world is mostly uncomfortable.

It's filled with poverty, perjury, injury, slavery, jeopardy, blaspheme, robbery, betrayal, denial, diseases, misfortune, injustice, annoyance, temptation, depression, destruction, discontent, disorder, suffering, complaining, violence, nakedness, wickedness, pollution, contagion and corruption.

Yet...

Discomfort brings an opportunity to relieve uncomfortable people: to notice victims and offer a hand; to extend a kind ear and share Good News.

But...

If Christians stay cozy in comfort zones: if they avoid all of the world's danger zones; if they park in pews or hang in small groups; if they shun what they mislabel as risk...

They're also shunning God's Great Commission.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
