Hot Topics... Drugs: Antidepressants Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression. Proverbs 12:25 (NKJV) I am weary with my sighing; Every night I make my bed swim, I dissolve my couch with my tears. (written by King David) Psalm 6:6 (NASB) My family has a history of mental illness: Anxiety, depression, panic attacks, nervous breakdowns--even shock treatments. My beautiful, role-model mother was no exception.* Especially in her later years, she faced challenges. She took pills to sleep, stay calm and counteract depression. Among her virtues was a funny kind of honesty. Regarding antidepressants, she said: 'Carey, it's true these pills make me care less about my problems, but they also make me care less about everything else... including important things I know I should be doing.' Because I've already written a Depression series,** I won't repeat my research or prayerful conclusions... but consider: 1) Pharma companies have made billions treating depression: an ancient challenge our kin handled in different ways. 2) Saints should turn to God first and delve deeply into His Word: a timeless Answer many modern Christians choose to skim. ## Hot Topic Series: Drugs, Antidepressants (Part 19) * A few pictures of my mom, Millie Lewis, a former NY fashion model who was inducted into the Models Hall of Fame. She opened a chain of modeling and finishing schools in the 1960s and was also a local civil rights activist. https://www.careylewis.us/about/ ** Previous 14-part devotion series on depression: https://careylewisdevotions.com/depression-part-1-the-facts P.S.
