Hot Topics... Drugs: Marijuana
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
1 Peter 5:8 (NKJV)
For medical and recreational purposes, marijuana's legalization is increasing. At the same time, opponents are getting blown away.

One potential benefit of its medical use touches me on a personal level. Both my mother and brother suffered with Parkinson's Disease. Some trials display a wondrous relief of symptoms.

But can legal weed lead to harder drugs? For some, yes. Does it fall in the realm of intoxication? Yes. Are Christians called to vigilance and sobriety? Yes.

So what's a vigilant believer supposed to do?

1) To keep our minds and bodies sharpened like warriors, since stoned or sloshed saints are easy enemy targets.

2) To respect our nation's laws and not condemn others, because Jesus exampled both of these behaviors.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
