Hot Topics... Family Structures
By faith the prostitute Rahab, because she welcomed the spies, was not killed with those who were disobedient.
Hebrews 11:31 (NIV)
This is the genealogy of Jesus the Messiah the son of David, the son of Abraham... Salmon the father of Boaz, whose mother was Rahab...
Matthew 1:1, 5 (NIV)
With new 21st-century relationship structures...

Worldly people think they're redefining the family and the abundance of their hearts is radically new; that an accepting, inclusive love is their invention... and surely incomprehensible to closed-off Christians.

But recall the chosen blood-line of Christ. It features a prostitute, a pagan and the unfaithful wife of a soldier. King David, a man after God's Own heart (also the forefather of God's Own Son) committed premeditated murder.

Basically, our Father's family includes all types of unlikely misfits.

So how should saints see today's strange match-ups? With loving eyes... leaving judgment to God. The world isn't asking our permission, but our surprising love can witness Christ.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
