Hot Topics... Guns
He who has no sword, let him sell his garment and buy one...

'Lord, look, here are two swords.'

And He said to them, 'It is enough.'
Luke 22:36, 38 (NKJV)*
I don't love guns, but I'm glad to have one. The thought of hearing a home invasion and being physically defenseless... helps me appreciate this privilege. So I've learned gun safety, and I'm practiced.

Nevertheless, I'd like more gun control than most states currently have on their books, including comprehensive background checks, longer waits and certain class exclusions.**

Of note: America's unique background, in adopting risk-taking immigrants with an uncommon degree of courage, might predict our strong stance on self-defense.

But too much of a good thing can be bad.

When interest becomes fascination, when reasonable becomes stockpiling, when self-defense becomes paranoia, when standing strong becomes hostile movement, when private arms become assault weapons, when loners become make-believe soldiers...

Then unstable people become shooters.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
