Hot Topics... Hate Crimes
I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners and need to repent.
Luke 5:32 (NLT)
The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers...
2 Corinthians 4:4 (NIV)
Jesus said, 'Father, forgive them, for they don't know what they are doing.'
Luke 23:34 (NLT)
Clearly, the best remedy for hate crimes is love: a seemingly impossible application, except through impossibility's Master: God. Only He can dissolve a mountain of hatred by a perfectly placed act of the purest love.
Like hanging on the Cross.
Regarding hate crimes: Love's King said evil was planted in human hearts... long before they committed their dastardly deeds. Therefore, the one more truly to blame is Satan.
'For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places' (Ephesians 6:12, NKJV).
So how can love rescue such beleaguered haters? It can stun them with compassion and floor them with forgiveness. In turn, God can open their eyes, rock them with remorse and love them anyway.
It worked for Jesus, and He can work through us. Imagine it: a love transfusion.
