Hot Topics... Idolatry
Who may ascend into the hill of the Lord? Or who may stand in His holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who has not lifted up his soul to an idol.
Psalm 24:3-4 (NKJV)
They are insane with their idols.
Jeremiah 50:38 (NKJV)
America is the capitol of idolatry.* Through media, we export it to the rest of the world. But when film and TV were in their earliest stages, ad men realized the word, idol, wouldn't market well.

Because Christians and Jews knew idols were loathsome to God. So they rebranded. Idols grew flesh and became actors, who were meticulously molded into dazzling stars.

But media merchandizers wanted more bang for their bucks. So they lifted stars higher and called them celebrities. The result? Countless millions of star-struck fans are devoted to them. Modern celebrities are worshipped, followed and copied.

Their products and endorsements make them (and their makers) rich. It's a worldly win-win, but not for the lost sheep of God.

How can stars for God fight idolatry? Through God. Consider:

1) You were chosen for such a time as this, so get in it and win it, like Esther.

2) Be a star, but refuse celebrity, including mansions and crowns, like Jesus.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
