Hot Topics... Lust
There's more to sex than mere skin on skin. Sex is as much spiritual mystery as physical fact. As written in Scripture, 'The two become one.' ... There is a sense in which sexual sins are different from all others. In sexual sin we violate the sacredness of our own bodies, these bodies that were made for God-given and God-modeled love, for 'becoming one' with another. Or didn't you realize that your body is a sacred place, the place of the Holy Spirit? Don't you see that you can't live however you please, squandering what God paid such a high price for? The physical part of you is not some piece of property belonging to the spiritual part of you. God owns the whole works. So let people see God in and through your body.
1 Corinthians 6:16-20 (The Message)
No matter what hot stars do, say and show, no matter how ad agencies sell it, no matter how fashionistas dress it, no matter how golden records spin it...

No matter how mischievous boys want it, no matter how misguided girls give it, no matter how TV shows joke about it, no matter how evil men excuse it...

Lust isn't love, and it ravages lives.

Certainly, we can lust for many things: food, fame, wealth, perks, power or approval... and lust in any form invites ruin. But sexual lust brings double trouble.

So what do we do? Avoid temptation. Avoid eye-contact. Back away from it, or run like Joseph. Why should saints care what everyone else does? We're not in that group. We belong to God.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
