Hot Topics... Mega Hobbies: Sports
Physical training is good, but training for godliness is much better, promising benefits in this life and in the life to come.
1 Timothy 4:8 (NLT)
God's Word talks about sports, like running and boxing--or how to win the prize.

I'm not athletic. Still, I like to watch. I'm inspired by the action and talent, but I'm not a super-committed fan. That being said, millions of people are.

With diligence, faithfulness and passion, they're utterly devoted to their teams.

Could our Father possibly be jealous?* Seeing His saints love a game more than Him? Knowing no game can ever love them back?

Have balls and their handlers become idols?

If watching sports is your ardent hobby, please consider:

1) God won't accept your leftover Sundays, when sports are your primetime fascination.

2) You might say the Lord holds your heart's top spot, but does your enthusiasm prove it?

3) By settling down in a spectator seat, are you missing your call as a player?

Finally, enjoy a good game, but don't lose your place as an action star.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
