Gray hair is a crown of glory; it is gained by living a godly life.
Even in old age they will still produce fruit.
Honor your father and mother. Then you will live a long, full life...
But those who won't care for their relatives, especially those in their own household, have denied the true faith. Such people are worse than unbelievers.
In America, and especially among the pale (a.k.a. white people), we tend to disregard the elderly. We're not trendy, techy or beautiful. Many of us suffer health challenges.
Through my own (sadly deceased) relatives, I've become intimately familiar with the hopelessness found in nursing homes: from the poorest and to the poshest of them.
I get the family circumstances, when both spouses work and no one is home to care for a diminishing parent. I also get the financial aspects, dementia and the extreme stress involved.
But Christians are supposed to set the bar of loving care for the rest of the world: godly sacrifice and obedience--often seen by honoring our parents.
I cannot and will not judge your choices. Judging is God's job, and I'm not perfect. Even so, I encourage deep prayer when we consider the aging parents who sacrificed so much on our behalf.
What does God (not man) expect you to do?*

* 'But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God--having a form of godliness but denying its power' (2 Timothy 3:1-5 NLT).
