Hot Topics... Taxes
'Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not? Shall we pay, or shall we not pay...?'

Jesus answered and said to them, 'Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's.' And they marveled at Him.
Mark 12:14-15, 17 (NKJV)*
I've paid a lot of taxes in my life, and I've endured an IRS audit. None of it seemed fair to me at the time. Surely, other people feel the same way and want to avoid paying big taxes.

Adding to this TAXING situation is questionable money management and a U.S. budget running away from us like a herd of untamed horses...

While big-talking congressional cowboys sit around and watch the fiscal stampede, with heated debates about who's to blame.

But Jesus paid His taxes with a smile and refused debatable arguments. He knew God allowed Caesar's government for reasons beyond our understanding.

So what should Christians do about taxes? Believe the Hero on a great white horse will come to set everything in order.

Because paying tax is a lesser thing than our choice to live exemplary lives: following to our best ability the One Who showed us where the real fight is.

And it's not in the U.S. government.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
