Hot Topics... Wealth
In fact, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the Kingdom of God!
Mark 10:25 (NLT)
I could lecture about wealth's temptations (and I have), but those who need it most aren't listening. Besides, God Himself covers this subject. One more thing: I'm not talking to the world.

Also, I've been what people call wealthy (in my B.C. years). But even then, I didn't love money. I gave and shared it as best I knew how.

Yet since I've become a Christ follower, I'm chagrinned by prosperity pushers.

Because if Christ is our prime Example, His prosperity regarded the heart. The prosperous life He died to give us disregarded all physical trappings. His wealth was found in His Father's kingdom. It concerned joy, peace, freedom and people--rather than homes, cars, cash and possessions.

I don't judge wealthy Christian businessmen. If they're following God's Word, so be it: good for them and good for everyone else.

Nicodemus, Joseph of Arimathea and others who supported Christ show us godly purpose in their substance.

But I believe pastors of the Lord's flocks have the greater duty of exampling, which Jesus Himself took seriously. Why else did He stay so long among us, except to show us the best way to live?

And money had little to do with it.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
