How To Move Ahead
Every one marches in formation, and they do not break ranks. They do not push one another; every one marches in his own column.
Joel 2:7-8 (NKJV)
Some people describe the talent industry as a dog-eat-dog business where aspiring stars claw their way to the top, pulling others down along the way. As viewers, we see a night sky of shooting stars that amaze us for a moment--then vanish.

Satan must laugh at the chaotic explosion of new stars that fall quickly to the ground like yesterday's garbage. The situation stinks, but we stand in line to smell it. News of celebrity failures tempts us to a morbid curiosity like those who hovered around to watch crucifixions in Jesus' day.

Or wrecks on the highways of our own day.

Even so, we are led to believe the money and fame of 'pop goes the star' is worth any price. Aspiring performers queue up in every type of audition for such a chance as that.

But we were created for 'such a time as this' (Esther 4:14). Aren't God's performers in the same place as all these shooting and falling stars? Yes. But they choose to become a part of the entertainment industry for vastly different reasons.

We are not ordinary actors and artists. We are members of God's army, a special-forces division, and He gives perfect instructions regarding how to move forward.

He tells us to stay in an orderly formation on the path He assigns, instead of pushing ahead or going off on our own path. Neither do we stop. This unit, the one called Actors, Models & Talent for Christ, follows closely behind the Commander.

Jesus is how to move ahead and stay ahead--not for ten minutes or ten years, but for eternity.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
