How to Prosper in Hollywood
Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful.
Psalm 1:1 (NKJV)
But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper.
Psalm 1:2-3 (NKJV)
The Book of Psalms begins with a warning, a duty, and a blessing: a godly sequence. God is the Supreme Commander and the Ultimate Parent. We are His beloved army of light: children with much to learn.

Prosperity preachers focus only on the good news. But the good news follows a cross. Carrying our cross means dying to the values of this world and living in the Value of Jesus.

Performers for Christ: consider this warning, duty, and blessing from an entertainment industry point of view.

1) Your warning begins with the word 'Blessed.' You will be blessed if you avoid three physical movements:

First, don't walk in the wrong direction. Don't follow the advice of ungodly people. Make sure your agent, manager, or counselor is a person of integrity. Unsure? Ask God. 'The counsel of the Lord stands forever' (Psalm 33:11).

Second, don't stand in the wrong audition line for a role or company that has no light. Standing in a dark place makes you an easy target.

Third, don't sit with scorners. Scorners curse, criticize, complain, judge, and condemn other people. Don't get cozy with naysayers. Hang out with 'Yes' people who love God and speak words of life.

2) Your duty is to love God's Word. Jesus is the Word: 'The Word was with God, and the Word was God' (John 1:1). Delight in Jesus. Study Him. God's Word is the most important Script you will ever receive. It will guide you without fail. It is your truest Friend.

3) The blessing is your inevitable success. No matter if the world is in recession or the writers go on strike; God's performers will flourish. He will 'bring forth' your break-out roles and starring performances in the perfect season of your life.

Your walk of fame has little to do with Hollywood and everything to do with 'Godlihood.' When fans follow you, they find Jesus.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
