Hurry Up And Wait 2020: Waiting
Till you are left as a pole on top of a mountain
And as a banner on a hill.
Therefore the Lord will wait, that He may be gracious to you;
And therefore He will be exalted, that He may have mercy on you.
For the Lord is a God of justice;
Blessed are all those who wait for Him.
Isaiah 30:17-18 (NKJV)
In the Kingdom of God, waiting is active, not passive.

It's a deliberate move,
Not an accidental groove.
It's the right place to grow tall,
Not a declining pitfall.
It's meant to invigorate,
And not at all to frustrate.

The truth about waiting has been covered by the mudslide of media.

While dark lines in sly ads push, 'NOW, NOW, NOW,' to Satan's schemes we unwittingly bow.

In trusting his lie, we fall from God's sky--and find ourselves struggling in slimy mud. We try to get a hand out and foot up... only to slip back down and slide around:

'I want my stuff and/or my success NOW. I've been waiting for an hour or a day; a month or a year... It's ridiculous.'

Unfortunately, many of God's children buy into Satan's dream exploder, a.k.a. impatience. They buy into the myth of instant gratification - and take home a bag of bondage.

But Jesus came to set the captives free, and He's doing it through His rising stars. How? By leading them up media's mountains: the very mountains from which the mud flows. How is that possible?

'With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible' (Matthew 19:26).

So don't buy enemy propaganda. 'Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God' (Romans 12:2).

It's God's will that you wait and trust in Him. It's God's will that you rise and shine WITH Him-- not ahead of Him.

Actors, models and talent for Christ: You're the 'Visible image of the invisible God' (Colossians 1:15). You're His stand-ins and supporting cast.

And as you're waiting for your success, gradually you'll learn to define success... differently.

## Hurry Up And Wait 2020: Waiting (Part 6)

NOTE: This is a 2020 edit of a 2013 Shine Devotion series, 'Hurry Up And Wait.' You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players.' Mostly true. But you're not 'merely players.' You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.

P.S. To read the other devotions in this series, please see the Hurry Up And Wait 2020 series.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
