Hurry Up And Wait (Part 8)
God's Perfect Timing
To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under Heaven.
Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NKJV)
It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His Own authority.
Acts 1:7 (NKJV)
For the vision is yet for an appointed time;
But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie.
Though it tarries, wait for it;
Because it will surely come,
It will not tarry.
Habakkuk 2:3 (NKJV)
God's timing is beyond our understanding. 'Beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day' (2 Peter 3:8).

The first Christians endured discouragement and persecution. When would God fulfill His promises? When would they receive the desires of their hearts?

Affairs of the world change, but affairs of the heart beat with consistency. Today's Christians suffer, too.

Peter could not explain God's 'when', but he did explain God's 'why': 'The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance' (2 Peter 3:9).

In other words, God directs an epic show and everything is perfectly timed. His master plan includes more than our success; it includes the success of others. God considers not just here and now, but before and after.

He 'Inhabits eternity' (Isaiah 57:15) 'Declaring the end from the beginning' (Isaiah 46:10). He is a multigenerational God. He is a multitasking Time Traveler. Jesus perfected cross-platforming before computers were invented.

Actors, models and talent for Christ: hold on to your hope! Never let it go. If faith comes from the heart, hope comes from the head. When you're attacked by impatience or doubt, cast them off. Refocus your eyes and thoughts on God's Word, 'For He Who promised is faithful' (Hebrews 10:23).

Remember also: no friend, foe, principality or power can stop your calling from God. Nothing can prevent your eventual success--except you! Therefore, fasten God's Helmet of Hope securely around your chin every morning. In fact, put on the entire Armor of God, because you have a destiny.

Here's how to get there: hurry up and wait.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
