Then they were all amazed and spoke among themselves, saying, 'What a Word this is! For with authority and power He commands the unclean spirits, and they come out.'
And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the Word of God with boldness.
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.
God sent His Beloved Son to rescue us from sin and death.
Our recognition of Jesus calls Heaven's 911 line. Our repentance opens the front door to our hearts. Our faith reaches up for the life-saving embrace. God's love powers our supernatural lift from disaster, because 'Love never fails' (1 Corinthians 13:8).
At the moment of life-bringing breath, why couldn't we go immediately to our home in Heaven? Imagine the joy. Imagine no more tears, fears, jeers, pain, or lies.
But Jesus said, 'I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one' (John 17:15). Why does Jesus want us to continue in this evil world under enemy occupation?
Because God 'Desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth' (1 Timothy 2:4). Not just us.
Because Jesus said, 'Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature' (Mark 16:15). 'Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in Heaven' (Matthew 5:16).
Also, 'My Father has been working until now, and I have been working' (John 5:17). We may conclude that we must be working, too, and our work is in this world.
We are performing soldiers in God's Army of Light (see 2 Timothy 2:3). We are field agents and rising stars. We are assigned to His search and rescue team. Our roles involve action and adventure, life and death.
But they're also roles of romance, because 'love never fails' and losing is not an option. We are actors, models, and talent for Christ.
Here's the thing: the enemy will do everything in his power to stop our work. He'll try to silence us, discourage us, and distract us. He knows our vulnerabilities.
But his power is no match for God. Even more, our vulnerabilities allow God to showcase His capabilities.
Within the Word of God is immeasurable power. The Word of God is Jesus.
