Imperfect Heroes (Part 64)
God's Temple
Woman, believe Me, an hour is coming when neither in this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father... when the true worshipers will worship the Father in Spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers.

John 4:21-23 (NASB)
In my first years as a bright-eyed Christian, mature saints warned me about certain sects. They had beliefs not strictly biblical. Therefore, they were dangerous heretics. I should denounce them and protect myself.

But over time, I felt differently. Because they and I shared one vital point. They truly loved Jesus, and so did I. On this Cause all followers should unite.

Church is not a pastor, place or brand. Church is not one right denomination. Church is not a sermon or social hour.

Church is a spiritual communion with our Father, through His Son, Jesus.

The visible proof that we are His church is not in walls, pews or stained glass windows. It's not in strict adherence to the Rules, because some believers haven't read Them.

It's in love, joy, peace, patience and kindness, especially when we're under attack. It's our uncommonly good behavior in the midst of a commonly bad world. It's in representing the Lord above, each of us to our best ability.

As individual temples for God, as carriers of His Holy Spirit, as uniquely designed and loved by Him, let's stand united on the highest Ground.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
