Isaiah 61 (Part 7)
Your Role To Play
But you shall be named the priests of the Lord,
They shall call you the servants of our God.
You shall eat the riches of the Gentiles,
And in their glory you shall boast.
Isaiah 61:6 (NKJV)
Consider these definitions for three key words in Isaiah 61:6:

Priests: 'All true believers are now 'kings and priests unto God.' As priests they have free access into the holiest of all, and offer up the sacrifices of praise and thanksgiving, and the sacrifices of grateful service from day to day' (Easton's Bible Dictionary).

Servants: 'But he who is greatest among you shall be your servant,' 'For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many. (Matthew 23:11, Mark 10:45).

Gentile: 'People, nation; one who is not a Jew; one who is not a Christian; a chivalrous person; a member of the nobility' (Etymology Dictionary). The meaning of Gentile is open to interpretation. I interpret Gentiles in Isaiah 60 and 61 to mean 'people of nobility who are neither Jews nor Christians.'

Actors, models and talent for Christ: you are a church without a roof. You are priests without a pulpit. You are performers without selfishness. You are servants of the Most High God. You are ambassadors of Christ. You act with excellence on stage and off. Because your goal is to act like Christ.

To you God brings the riches of the world--that you may spend them wisely. Because in and beyond your brethren... Because in and beyond the people of nobility who fund your performances... are the lost: millions of them. They are poor, lame, blind, deaf, alone, tormented and imprisoned.

I was one of them.

They seek truth. They seek life, freedom, health, joy, family, peace and purpose. They look in many places, but they do not find what they seek.

I was one of them.

Because they are chasing the gifts instead of The Giver. In trying to save their lives, they lose them. In you, He is found. Through Him, they are saved.

I was one of them.

I thank God for His new generation of priests and servants. They are actors, models and talent for Christ.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
