Judgment (Part 9)
There are those who rebel against the light; They do not know its ways nor abide in its paths.
Job 24:13 (NKJV)
Then the prophet Jeremiah said to Hananiah the prophet, 'Hear now, Hananiah, the Lord has not sent you, but you make this people trust in a lie. Therefore thus says the Lord: 'Behold, I will cast you from the face of the earth. This year you shall die, because you have taught rebellion against the Lord.' '

Jeremiah 28:15-16 (NKJV)*
Most believers are grieved by the conduct of pleasure seekers, salacious stars and popular liars, who lure followers away from their faith. These bad examples seem to be rebels from a life well lived and everything good. But if they don't know the One Who is good, and they haven't committed to serve Him, then He's not their Boss, so they're not rebels.

God is grieved by the rebellious conduct of greedy, self-interested Christians who corrupt immature congregations: children in their faith who haven't grown up. Unskilled in the Word, they're easy to sway. If church leaders claim to follow Jesus, while they're serving the gods of this earth, then they've left their Boss, and they are rebels.

Actors, models and talent for Christ: Don't agree with big talkers who judge and condemn those who don't share your faith. Recall your Captain's priorities:

1) Toward earth's poor and misled people, those seeking both passion and purpose, you're bringing the best news of all time through the stages of entertainment. Because the Lord's team didn't build them, you enter the labor of others. Thereby, God reaps where He did not sow, which is what the Bible promises.

2) Toward the leadership in your church, those nursing and shepherding His saints, observe their humility closely. This foundation for elevation is the Carpenter's priority. If they're not sacrificing themselves and carrying their assigned crosses, then they're the rebels He despises. Only follow those following Him.**

3) Toward yourself and hard challenges, those pushing your faith to its limits, you're facing what every saint must face: growing up in earth's school of hard knocks. Because if you refuse to give up and continue to follow Jesus, you won't become rebels, but heroes. Therein, you're cast as God's action stars.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
