The leaders of this people cause them to err, and those who are led by them are destroyed.
They are blind leaders of the blind.
Because many false prophets have gone out into the world.
Such people are not serving our Lord Christ, but their own appetites. By smooth talk and flattery, they deceive the minds of naive people.
False prophets are spiritual spinners. Elijah faced 850 truth twisters.* Jesus faced faced them throughout His ministry.*
Jude, the half-brother of Jesus, calls them 'Spots in your love feasts... serving only themselves... Clouds without water, carried about by the winds... Raging waves of the sea, foaming up their own shame; Wandering stars for whom is reserved the blackness of darkness forever' (Jude 1:12-13);
'Late autumn trees without fruit, twice dead' (v.12). In other words, they were dead before they knew Christ, and they would die again because they rejected Him. Much worse, they led lambs astray.
False prophets exist in churches today. But how can we know them? Even Satan quoted Scripture and was brilliant enough to convince one-third of God's angels to follow him.
Jesus said, 'You will know them by their fruits' (Matthew 7:16). If fruit is our work's conclusion, consider church leaders: Are they raising mighty structures or lifting humble people? Dressing for success or covering the poor?**
If a church is a tree, Jesus cursed a beautiful tree without fruit.***
Actors for Christ: Jesus said 'The hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in Spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him' (John 4:23).**** Not in famous places or manmade temples.
Because God's Spirit cannot be contained. You are His priests. You are His temples. Through media, you extend yourselves (and Him) to all nations.
Unpopular warning: Beware mega-churches and star-studded pastors. Only one mega-church was blessed by God, and He rejected it. Only one Shepherd became God's Star, and He rejects false prophets.
