Leadership (Part 44)
Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ's behalf, be reconciled to God.
2 Corinthians 5:20 (NKJV)
With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints, and pray on my behalf, that utterance may be given to me in the opening of my mouth, to make known with boldness the mystery of the Gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in proclaiming it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.
Ephesians 6:18-20 (NASB)
Actors, models and talent for Christ: you are ambassadors for Christ. You are 'diplomatic ministers of the highest rank sent on a special mission.' You are 'authorized messengers or representatives' of a foreign government, because your 'Citizenship is in Heaven' (Philippians 3:20).*

2 Corinthians 5:20 awes me. Consider one Word within It: pleading. Can the Creator of the universe be pleading for anything? If so, can He be pleading through us? Yes! He is pleading for His children's lives, pleading for them to come home, and He is pleading through us, His commissioned ambassadors.

The Apostle Paul implores (begs) God's new church to be firmly reconciled to Him, to be re-established in close relationship.** Because as ambassadors for Christ, they were to begin a 'Ministry of reconciliation' (2 Corinthians 5:18).

Relationship was their job: relationship with Him; relationship with each other; relationship with the outside world--and connecting all three.

Actors, models and talent for Christ: as wartime ambassadors, you have diplomatic protection. Even so, Paul's mission is your mission: to find the lost and them home. Today's second key Scripture comes from Ephesians 6.*** It details this war, and it highlights your defensive and offensive weaponry.

When considering the Armor of God, don't forget the last Parts: prayer, boldness, and fellowship. Paul, as bold a disciple as ever walked the earth, requested assistance in all three.

Actors, models and talent for Christ: Paul had chains; you have freedom. Paul wrote with a pen; you soar in media. In this land of wandering stars, become God's constant stars: be constantly aware of your mission and vigilantly sure of your status, as...

Ambassadors of Christ.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
