Leadership: The Light
Giving thanks to the Father Who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light. He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in Whom we have redemption through His Blood, the forgiveness of sins.
Colossians 1:12-14 (NKJV)
Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling... that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world...
Philippians 2:12,15 (NKJV)
The essential Qualification for Christian leadership is Jesus: 'The Light of the world' (John 8:12). By Him, we are redeemed, reborn and remade in His Image. We are cleaned on the inside and polished on the outside.

Salvation may occur in a flash, but most often, transformation takes time. In the process of affirming God and denying self, we grow increasingly bright. We shine, which is His direction to us.

'Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you' (Isaiah 60:1).

In contrast to a veiled and opaque existence, we live an increasingly transparent life. Observers see through us to His Light within. Given a choice, most people want to live in the light. Even without knowing its Source, they are attracted to it.

Performers for Christ: 'You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven' (Matthew 5:14-16).

Media offers all kinds of light: from the wash off a stage to the glow on a phone; from the glare of a screen to the flash of a bulb. You know when it's manmade, because when the light turns off, so do the stars reflecting it.

But God's stars shine best in darkness. Your time is now. Media was made for your entrance. Light it up.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
