Lies: The Father Of Lies (Part 1)
There is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
John 8:44 (NAS)
While on plant earth, we live in a war between the 'father of lies' and the 'Father of lights' (James 1:17).

Most people are ignorant of the war, walking barefoot through snake-infested battlefields. Some Christians know about the war. They put on their footgear of peace, but forget the rest of their armor. They hide out in their homes and churches. But war has a way of finding those in hiding.

Other people try live like the country of Switzerland, being a friend to all and an enemy to none. But we are not Switzerland and neutrality is not an option.

Within the army of good are reluctant soldiers. Their hearts aren't in it, but most of their friends are--so they go along. At every opportunity, they break ranks to live life on their own terms--not yet realizing their own terms will never be God's terms of engagement.

The army of evil is run by the father of lies. His earthly recruits have been led to believe this life is all they've got, and winning it is all that matters. They pursue money and power. The smartest among them become immensely successful. Stepping on victims is part of the process.

Moral relativity is their marching song, and nothing is absolute.

Children of the earth: in the absence of absolute truth, there is no truth. Nor is there 'absolution': 'divine forgiveness to penitent believers' (Random House Dictionary).

Therefore, know your enemy, the devil. He is the father of lies. He speaks to you at every opportunity using all modern and traditional modes of communication. He actively seeks new recruits, minute by minute.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
