See that no one renders evil for evil to anyone, but always pursue what is good both for yourselves and for all.
You are an actor, model, and talent for Christ. You act in love. You model Jesus, and your talent opens many doors.
You go to auditions, rehearsals, performances, and wrap parties--offices, stores, theaters, and friends' houses. You go to work. As AMTC founder, Millie Lewis said, 'Every time you walk out of your front door, you're on stage.' As New Covenant Founder, Jesus Christ said, 'You are witnesses of these things' (Luke 24:48).
'Go To Work' has two parts:
1) You are told not to return 'Evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary blessing, knowing that you were called to this, that you may inherit a blessing' (1 Peter 3:9).
Jesus says 'Love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you' (Matthew 5:44). He brings new orders about going the extra mile (see Matthew 5:41). Clearly, God blesses the work of exceeding forgiveness.
As a role model on stages public and private, your work does not stop with your own behavior. You are to 'see that no one renders evil for evil to anyone.' Since performers are elevated, look around you. Lift the oppressed. Intercede for victims. Lead your peers.
2) You are to 'Seek peace and pursue it' (Psalm 34:14), to 'Pursue the knowledge of the Lord' (Hosea 6:3) to 'Pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace' (1 Timothy 2:22), to 'pursue what is good.'
Many of today's performers pursue fame, fortune, fun, and the 'freedom' of self expression. They do not see themselves as teachers, which is unfortunate for their pupils (fans). Look where 'Bad Teachers' have led our children.
The apostle James says, 'My brethren, let not many of you become teachers' (James 3:1). Why? Teachers are held to a higher standard by God. This job is not only for you, but 'for all.' What you don't teach in words, you do teach in actions.
Therefore, actors, models, and talent for Christ must know the full scope of their work and do it.
