Lights, Camera, Action (Part 9)
Pray without ceasing.
1 Thessalonians 5:17 (NKJV)
Contrary to popular opinion, 'staying connected' has nothing to do with smart phones, text messaging, or internet speed.

Although your agent expects a call returned within minutes, 'staying connected' is not about him either. Even though honoring your parents is a commandment with a positive promise, it's still not the most important connection.

God is your lifeline.

If you lose connection with Him, you're in enemy territory without weapons, protection, or guidance. Bad moves are inevitable, as are the sad consequences that follow.

Planet Earth, including the culture of entertainment, is temporarily controlled by the enemy. Jesus calls Satan 'The ruler of this world' (John 12:31). And us? 'Our citizenship is in Heaven' (Philippians 3:20). We are acting 'Ambassadors of Christ' (2 Corinthians 5:20) with...

1) A mission: 'Go into the whole world and proclaim the good news to every creature' (Mark 16:15).

2) Diplomatic immunity: 'Nothing shall by any means hurt you' (Luke 10:19).

3) Ample direction: 'When He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth' (John 16:13).

If God is our General, King, and Director, then prayer is our main means of supernatural communication. It is not limited by any physicality, but is surely supported by the Bible and fellowship with other believers. When you are alone, in distress, in a business meeting, in a moment of decision or urgency, pray.

It is instant, direct, and private. The enemy cannot read your thoughts, but God can. Practice all the time. Practice everywhere. Pray without ceasing.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
