Little League Games (Part 2)
Disqualifying Errors
You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, be on your guard so that you are not carried away by the error of unprincipled men and fall from your own steadfastness.
2 Peter 3:17 (NAS)
Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win... so that, after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified.
1 Corinthians 9:24, 27 (NAS)
Let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins.
James 5:20 (NAS)
In the realm of baseball are a major league with power players and a little league with talented kids.

In the realm of the Spirit are mountain movers with men of war and nursing children with much to learn.

In the realm of entertainment are famous studios with big stars and local churches with shining faces.

Each of these realms has rules and qualifiers, codes of conduct and terms of engagement. Each has winners and losers. In the realm of the Spirit, Christians have one Rule and one Qualifier. His Name is Jesus. His code of conduct and terms of engagement are summed up in one word: love.

However, we currently live in diverse situations under adverse circumstances. So He gives us a Rule Book: the Bible. In it are winning instructions for every realm we enter.

Media is the biggest realm on earth today. It seems like a game, and the majority of Earth's people watch it intensely. Its governing authority is 'The prince of the power of the air' (Ephesians 2:2). He offers fans thousands of ways to get on the field, because they dream of becoming players. But this field is rough. Like a chasm, it swallows the unprepared.

God is calling up His Own players; they are actors, models and talent for Christ. He has given them coaches and a specialized playbook*, so they can rise and shine in media, so they can show the innocent and the lost 'The Way, the Truth and the Life' (John 14:6) worth living.

Unfortunately, some of God's intended stars are making errors and striking out. Why? Because the little league with talented kids, the nursing children with much to learn and the local churches with shining faces have had it relatively easy--but nothing in media is easy.

Too many of God's shining faces enter the field of media unprepared. They neither sharpen their skills sufficiently nor learn the specialized playbook to succeed in this World Series. We know its conclusion, but most of the fans don't. God wants to see them cheering for the winning side when 'The Day Star' (2 Peter 1:19) steps onto the field once again.

To Be Continued...

*Consider AMTC Daily Devotions as a specialized playbook pulled from the Bible for actors, models and talent for Christ. Consider godly coaches to be your specialized teachers. Consider His Holy Spirit as your Guidance Counselor. He will not call you to His office, because it's not here. But He will come to you. He gives perfect instructions individually and collectively to God's all-stars. Follow Him first.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
