Love... Always Protects
Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it would be better for him to have a heavy millstone hung around his neck, and to be drowned in the depth of the sea.
Matthew 18:6 (NASB)
Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for Me.
Matthew 25:40 (NIV)
If love 'Always protects' (1 Corinthians 13:7, NIV), then what does a loving saint need to protect?

-- Money, appearance or position? I don't think so. Jesus 'Had no beauty or majesty to attract us to Him... (Isaiah 53:2, NIV).

-- Life? No. God's got His people covered. 'He will cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you will find refuge' (Psalm 91:4)

-- Family? Yes, but remember, God's got them covered, too. Plus, we can't love them more than God--or His calling to us.*

-- Talent? Yes! We must protect the talents God gave us from dream haters, fear and apathy. We must multiply them for His glory.**

-- Reputation? Only in terms of our behavior: 'Be imitators of God, as beloved children; and walk in love' (Ephesians 5:1-2, NASB).

-- Children (in age or belief)? Yes! With watchful lovingkindness, we tend to them as God's Word directs.

-- Neighbors and strangers? Yes! Especially those God places before us, who are lonely, poor, hurt, sick or bound: the least of us.***

How do we protect? By prayer and positive actions.

Therefore, we love.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
