Love... Is Compelling
If we are beside ourselves, it is for God; or if we are of sound mind, it is for you. For the love of Christ compels us... that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him Who died for them and rose again.
1 Corinthians 5:13-15 (NKJV)
His Word is in my heart like a fire, a fire shut up in my bones. I am weary of holding It in; indeed, I cannot.
Jeremiah 20:9 (NIV)
Have you ever NOT wanted to do something or say something? Instead you wanted to stay home, blend in or be quiet?

But you felt COMPELLED to do it.. and if you didn't, you would 'burst' or be tormented?

So, if the thing you preferred not to do (but did it anyway) was a good thing, a loving thing or a positive step, consider that compulsion to be from God.

Paul put it this way: 'I am compelled by God to do it. How terrible for me if I didn't preach the Good News!' (1 Corinthians 9:16, NLT).

Consider: Our 'God is a consuming Fire' (Hebrews 12:29, NIV). His Spirit is a Flame of Fire--not to be ignored or quenched: 'Do not quench the Spirit' (1 Thessalonians 5:19).

By God's love, human hearts are warmed and stirred to bold moves not ordinarily taken.

On the other hand, you were not designed to be ordinary...

'That you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world' (Philippians 2:15, NKJV).

Therefore, we love.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
