Love... Is Edifying
Knowledge puffs up, but love edifies.
1 Corinthians 8:1 (NKJV)
From Him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.
Ephesians 4:16 (NIV)
To edify is to uplift. What better way to love than to uplift? Especially when someone is down... socially, physically, financially, spiritually or professionally?
Social uplifting? Befriend outsiders, outcasts and the disadvantaged. Stand against all forms of bullying discrimination.
Physical uplifting? Help the helpless. Visit the sick. Give a hug. Change a tire. Mow a lawn. Cook a meal. Host the lonely.
Financial uplifting? Give and share the bounty God gave you. He loves to share. Warning: Give privately. No show and tell.
Spiritual uplifting? Certainly, pray and help your kin in Christ. But don't forget your commission as ambassadors for Christ in the world.
Professional uplifting? If you're a boss, give newcomers a chance to rise. If you're an employee, be the light at work every day.
Knowledge stands on a pedestal. Love lifts others up.*
Therefore we love.

* Regarding our speech habits: 'Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers' (Ephesians 4:29, KJV).
