Love... Is Immeasurable
Christ will make His home in your hearts as you trust in Him. Your roots will grow down into God's love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God's people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep His love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.
Ephesians 3:17-19 (NLT)
I was a good student in school. Maybe even a little gifted. My former husband is certifiably gifted. Maybe even a genius.

As he traveled the roads of higher education, I went with him. We were surrounded by pedigreed intellectuals, and I've come to a few conclusions:

1) A big mind, like big beauty, talent or athleticism, is a blessing and a challenge. The challenge is to avoid self-sufficiency or pride.

2) Pride refuses to accept the mystery and majesty of God at Face value. Pride wants to figure out God and share in His glory.

3) The love of God is too grand for the wisest humans to grasp. It's beyond reason, beyond time, beyond limits and beyond them.

4) The best we can do is be like little children: thankful to our Father with gee-whiz wonder: learning and copying as best we can.

Therefore, we love.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
