Love... Is Kinship
By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.
John 13:35 (NKJV)
If someone says, 'I love God,' and hates his brother, he is a liar.
1 John 4:20 (NKJV)
For whoever does the will of My Father in heaven is My brother and sister and mother.
Matthew 12:50 (NKJV)
'Master, we saw someone casting out demons in Your Name, and we forbade him because he does not follow with us.'
But Jesus said to him, 'Do not forbid him, for he who is not against us is on our side.'
Luke 9:49-50 (NKJV)
We have two kinds of kin:
1) Birth kin by blood (with a small b): our legal family*
2) Born-again kin by Blood (with a big B): our Christian family
For many of us, giving preference to the big B group (over the small b group) is hard, although Jesus clearly redefined the meaning of family.
Just as clearly, God says love for our Christian kin is how the world will know us. Even more, if we don't love each other, our witness is a big fat lie.
Next point: Denominational squabbling nullifies our witness, as does denouncing other Christians with different rules: a.k.a. they do not follow with us.
To maximize our witness and change the world, let's focus on what we have in common: the Blood.
Therefore, we love.
