Love... Is Pure
The purpose of my instruction is that all believers would be filled with love that comes from a pure heart, a clear conscience, and genuine faith. But some people have missed this whole point. They have turned away from these things and spend their time in meaningless discussions.
1 Timothy 1:5-6 (NLT)
Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you.
James 1:27 (NLT)
The word, pure, as applied to love, has taken two bad spins in recent decades:
1) Purity is old-fashioned; 2) Purity is judgmental.

Neither spin is true. Purity is ageless. It has nothing to do with judgment and everything to do with Jesus: the only sinless Man.

Pure love is unselfish love. It's not out to get, but to give.

The only Way we can approach pure love is through Jesus Himself: Love's Refiner.

Pure love is so powerful, we have to work our way up to a fully charged love-life. How?

1) Small acts of compassion and self-denial.
2) Refusing fake love and church hypocrisy.
3) Studying The Word of God as love's Rule Book.
4) Discipleship under the Master of Love.

Therefore, we love.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
