And let them say continually, 'The Lord be magnified, Who delights in the prosperity of His servant.'
Psalm 35:27 (NAS)
Our God is a God of exceeding abundance. When we magnify Him, He magnifies us. Mary, the mother of Christ, 'Said, my soul magnifies the Lord' (Luke 1:46). In return, God magnified Mary to become the mother of His Son.
How can we magnify Him? He is already magnificent! True, but we can make God bigger in the eyes of other people. We are His body. Every time we take our God-given talents to the world in His name, we magnify Him.
A breathtaking dance. A soaring song. A model-perfect picture. A monologue that moves an audience from laughter to tears and back. When we give God credit for our gifts, we magnify Him.
Do you ever sit through the credits of a film? The names roll and roll, from the mighty director to the lowly assistants. The stars of the movie couldn't shine without them. But no one truly shines without God. The most important credit is missing!
When we achieve something wonderful--shoot a magazine cover, book a big job, lose those pounds, or get a promotion at work, do we give Him credit?
Think about it: what if every time we achieve something noteworthy, we give God due praise? Praise for the beauty, talent, booking, performance, or award.
'Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above' (James 1:17). Think of all the friends and fans who might see the God we magnify.
