Matthew 16 (Part 14)
The Hell Storming Church*
And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.

Matthew 16:18 (NKJV)
Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

Luke 10:19 (NKJV)
Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

James 4:7 (NKJV)
For we are not ignorant of his devices.

2 Corinthians 2:11 (NKJV)
Actors, Models and Talent for Christ:

When the Captain of our salvation said the gates of hell would not prevail against Peter and his fellow saints, He guaranteed your victory, too. But not a sit-and-wait kind of win; not a fortified church kind of win; not just a He-freed-me kind of win...

Instead, it's a hell-storming onslaught: a deep-offensive counter attack, a fully-equipped frontal assault, a Sword-of-the-Spirit bombardment, a pounding of unequalled power... to blast hell's gates right off their hinges and overcome the devil's death grip. On whom?

1) Not you, because you're already free by your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. You're free because God's Son redeemed you. The price? The sacrifice of His Life.

2) Civilians, earth's unaware victims, caught in the crosshairs of Satan's guns. They are wounded, unarmed prisoners of a war they aren't prepared to fight.

But you are. In the strength of His Holy Spirit, in the light of His Great Commission, you're called to 'Fight the good fight of faith' (1 Timothy 6:12). If the gates of hell can't keep you out, you're like the Lord's Navy Seal Team 6: entering Satan's territory, leading all who will come to freedom.

The risk to you is no risk at all, because your Commander goes with you. The real risk for saints is staying home, as lives are lost when battles aren't fought.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
