Model Conduct #11
Be An Example
Never pay back evil for evil to anyone. Respect what is right in the sight of all men.
Romans 12:17 (NAS)
Be a light. Be a role model. Be a star for Jesus, because He was the Star upon a cross for us. He gave a perfect 33 year performance in the darkness of the world 2000 years ago. He opened the curtains to the Kingdom of God and invited us to enter.

'For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you' (John 13:15), 'So that you {become} an example to all the believers' (1 Thessalonians 1:7).

Think about the mission of actors, models, and talent for Christ: you are to be an example--not only for your fellow performers, not only for your fans, but also for your brothers and sisters in Christ.

Why would fellow Christians need you as an example? Can't they just look right to Jesus? Sure, but they need reinforcement, encouragement, a brave and valiant Joshua, Joseph, David, Esther, or Mary. They need heroes, and that is the role you play.

Because performers are long on valor and amazing to watch, because it takes courage to go where you go, to risk rejection, to stand in front of audiences, to leave your comfort zone, to be an example of His truth, especially in an alien nation like Hollywood.

Aren't some actors and artists just too young for this role? So much better the example, 'For My strength is made perfect in weakness' (2 Corinthians 12:9). Therefore, 'Let no one look down on your youthfulness, but rather in speech, conduct, love, faith and purity, show yourself an example of those who believe' (1 Timothy 4:12).

In waiting rooms, on auditions, at parties, with believers or non believers, on set, off set, 'In all things show yourself to be an example of good deeds' (Titus 2:7).

Therein are you a model of Christ.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
