Rejoicing in hope, persevering in tribulation, devoted to prayer.
As actors, modes & talent for Christ, you're called to excel in perseverance... pushing through objections and distractions; walking past temptations and naysayers; rising from rejection and ridicule... including your own insecurities.
The talent industry isn't easy, but is anything important... easy?
Your determination will be tested, and God allows these tests to strengthen you. At the same time, two things are happening:
While 'The eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth' (2 Chronicles 16:9) seeking to help each of His rising stars, 'The devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour' (1 Peter 5:8).
Your action plan? Stay strong and on course.
Just like Ruth, who was 'Determined to go' (Ruth 1:18) with Naomi, though staying home was her easier choice.
Just like Solomon, who 'Determined to be wise' (Ecclesiastes 7:23) beyond all other normal, selfish dreams.
Just like Jesus, who 'Was determined to go to Jerusalem' (Luke 9:51), though a cross awaited Him there.
Just like Paul, who was 'Determined to know nothing... except Jesus Christ' (1 Corinthians 2:2) to become His most fruitful disciple.
So, actors, models, and talent for Christ: You may be overlooked on auditions. You may work in an unusual field. You may see others less worthy succeed. You may fear a lack of funds, faith or friends. You may be tempted by easier paths.
But hold tight to the promises of God. 'For the vision is yet for an appointed time... Though it tarries, wait for it; because it will surely come' (Habakkuk 2:3), 'For what has been determined must take place' (Daniel 11:36).
You will succeed.
## Model Conduct 2021: Be Determined (Part 9)
NOTE: This is a 2021 edit of a 2011 Shine Devotion series, Model Conduct. You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players.' Mostly true. But you're not 'merely players.' You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.
P.S. To read the other devotions in this series, please see the Model Conduct 2021 series.
