Model Conduct #9
Be Determined
Rejoicing in hope, persevering in tribulation, devoted to prayer.
Romans 12:12 (NAS)
We must persevere through doubt, temptations, distractions, and obstacles. The talent industry isn't easy, but it is undoubtedly exciting and tremendously important.

Our determination will be tested, and God allows these tests to prove us and to strengthen us. While 'The eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth' (2 Chronicles 16:9) seeking to help His future stars, 'The devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour' (1 Peter 5:8).

What must we do? Get determined. Stay in the Word. Stay in prayer. Stay on course.

Just like Ruth, who was 'Determined to go' (Ruth 1:18) with Naomi, though staying home was easier.

Just like Solomon, who 'Determined to be wise' (Ecclesiastes 7:23) beyond all other success.

Just like Jesus, who 'Was determined to go to Jerusalem' (Luke 9:51), though a cross awaited Him there.

Just like Paul, who was 'Determined to know nothing... except Jesus Christ' (1 Corinthians 2:2) to become His most productive disciple.

Actors, models, and talent for Christ must be determined. You may be overlooked on auditions. You may work in a strange land. You may see others less worthy succeed. You may fear a lack of funds, faith, or friends. Returning to the comforts of home may tempt you.

But hold on tight to the promises of God. 'For the vision is yet for an appointed time... Though it tarries, wait for it; because it will surely come' (Habakkuk 2:3), 'For what has been determined must take place' (Daniel 11:36). You will succeed.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
