Name Tags: You Are... (Part 14)
Bondservants & Slaves
Now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life.
Romans 6:21-23 (NKJV)
And remember, if you were a slave when the Lord called you, you are now free in the Lord. And if you were free when the Lord called you, you are now a slave of Christ.
1 Corinthians 7:22 (NLT)
If you continue in My Word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; and you will know the Truth, and the Truth will make you free.
John 8:31-32 (NASB)
If you circulated among people wearing a name tag that said 'Slave of Christ'... many would be appalled or sorrowful at such a seemingly low position. Because God's way is foolishness to them.*

But to the powers of heaven and hell, this status bears profound significance. It labels you as the Lord's property. Therein, you have royal privileges, including invincible protection.

Because being a bondservant of Christ (like Peter, Paul, James and Jude call themselves)** brings transcending freedom found nowhere else. Bondage to the devil's yoke is broken. Saints are free to live in peace, love and joy; to be creative and find fulfillment.

Actors, models and talent for Christ: Creativity is your calling. Telling a story through your talents, a lovely and compelling story, a story leading people to Christ, brings godly purpose to your giftings. But the powerful freedom you need to run the distance as performers is found in subjection to Jesus.

In Him, no limitations exist.
In Him, the lowly are exalted.
In Him, modeling is perfected.
In Him, acting is telling the truth.
In Him, singing is raising the dead.
In Him, dancing is circling the earth.

Because all of life's greatest movements require freedom found in His service.

* 'The natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned' (1 Corinthians 2:14, NKJV).

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
