Name Tags: You Are... (Part 19)
Remember, dear brothers and sisters, that few of you were wise in the world's eyes or powerful or wealthy when God called you. Instead, God chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And he chose things that are powerless to shame those who are powerful. God chose things despised by the world, things counted as nothing at all, and used them to bring to nothing what the world considers important. As a result, no one can ever boast in the Presence of God.
1 Corinthians 1:26-29 (NLT)
For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases Him.
Philippians 2:13 (NLT)
If insufficiency is a demon, if inadequacy is a spirit, if incapacity is Satan's jail, then let's embrace the freedom found in Christ. Since only in Him are we capable. As evidenced throughout the Word of God, His all stars weren't pre-equipped for their jobs.

Most didn't have high-end educations. Most weren't the richest or the mightiest. Very few were from royal families. Some started life as pagan outsiders. They included scrawny kids and sinners; stutterers, old people and fishermen.

Christ said, 'I can of myself do nothing' (John 5:30). So how can modern church authorities claim their competence in matters of faith by man-created certifications? As Paul said: 'Our competence comes from God' (2 Corinthians 3:5, NIV).

Actors, models and talent for Christ: What does this devotion mean to you?

1) Your capability comes from God. If you aren't 'degreed' in your talent, work hard now and pray for His Presence to shine as strength in your auditions. The combination of Him and you can take you places you'd never guess.

2) The Word says, God exalts the humble.* So if you have a humble background, if you keep a humble attitude, if you humble yourself before Him, in due time you will be exalted. This is God's repetitive promise.

3) Don't believe Satan's lies about you. If you think you're not pretty enough, smart enough or talented enough; if you think you don't have the money or your background has some major flaws, you're in the right place for promotion.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
