Name Tags: You Are... (Part 2)
Abraham's Descendents
Know that only those who are of faith are sons of Abraham. And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the Gospel to Abraham beforehand, saying, 'In you all the nations shall be blessed.' So then those who are of faith are blessed with believing Abraham... And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's Seed, and heirs according to the promise.
Galatians 3:7-9, 29 (NKJV)
Now the Lord said to Abram,

'Go forth from your country,

And from your relatives

And from your father's house,

To the land which I will show you;

And I will make you a great nation,

And I will bless you,

And make your name great;

And so you shall be a blessing;

And I will bless those who bless you,

And the one who curses you I will curse.

And in you all the families of the earth will be blessed.'

Genesis 12:1-3 (NASB)
Depending on each situation's need, God offers us some super-fine name tags. While they're invisible to outsiders (unless they've read and studied the Bible), God's name tags clearly identify you to angels and demons in ways that count.

They give you instantaneous respect. They help you discern the various roles you were commissioned to play and master. They set you up for countless benefits, and they void destructive self-descriptions: cruel names Satan wants to pin on you.

Actors, models and talent for Christ: You are called Abraham's descendants, so you're part of earth's best family: the one into which Jesus was born.* Therein, consider your forefather's journey, lifestyle, duties and blessings. Because wearing this special name tag carries family obligations:

1) Abraham obeyed God in all things and believed in the impossible.

2) He left his birth kin and home comforts to follow God to an unknown land.

3) He quit earth's prevailing religion, which was focused on idolatry.

4) He never built an impressive house. Instead, he built God's new family.

5) God promised Abraham great blessings: also that he would be a blessing.

6) God blessed people who helped Abraham, and He cursed anyone who harmed him.

Actors, models and talent for Christ: The Lord's love and pledge to Abraham is transferrable to you today, through Jesus: His blessing Expander.**

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
