Name Tags: You Are... (Part 32)
Be doers of the Word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the Word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. But he who looks into the perfect Law of Liberty and continues in It, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.
James 1:25 (NKJV)
Do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead?
James 2:20 (NKJV)*
In the world, you have dreamers and doers, but seldom are they both in one person. In the church, you have talkers and walkers, but seldom are they both in one Christian.

Because doing is a consummation: the evidence or fulfillment of faith; the big performance after rehearsals; the actual mission after training; the task completed after promises; the helping hand after spoken prayers.

It's living the life Jesus exampled rather than sitting on a bench at church, listening to how wonderful He was. Praise falls flat without putting it to work.

Actors, models and talent for Christ: Sometimes the Lord and the world agree. You must get up and go to the field if you want to be an action star.

The Bible is filled with action stars: girls, boys, men and women called by God, who left their familiar surroundings to become heroes and change the world. They exchanged their comfort zone for God, because He's mobile and likes to move.

Actors, models and talent for Christ: You know your destiny is to do; to do what previous kin did not; to go to the ripest fields and work; to help the Lord bring in His harvest; to seek and lead many lost sheep home.

You're not just watching screens. You're on them. You're not just sideliners. You're players. So don't get discouraged with hard work or wonder when you'll reap what you sow. Pay Day will come and it will be good.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
