Earth's Overseers
God said, 'Let Us make man in Our Image, according to Our Likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth...'
Genesis 1:26 (NASB)
For all creation is waiting eagerly for that future day when God will reveal who His children really are. Against its will, all creation was subjected to God's curse. But with eager hope, the creation looks forward to the day when it will join God's children in glorious freedom from death and decay.
Romans 8:19-21 (NLT)
God blesses those who are humble, for they will inherit the whole earth.
Matthew 5:5 (NLT)
Once upon a time described and coming, men will oversee the earth righteously. They will cherish all of God's creations. They will delight in their variety. Small kids will lead lions and wolves around, since none are predators, and none are prey.* Even more spectacularly, all praise:

'And then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea. They sang: 'Blessing and honor and glory and power belong to the One sitting on the throne and to the Lamb forever and ever' ' (Revelation 5:13, NLT).

But within this time known as present day, men oversee the earth maliciously. They covet gems, tusks, treasures and fuels. They pollute, disregard and kill for sport. God's creations are treated callously, since few men pray and most are predators. Even worse, some Christians do just the same.

Actors, models and talent for Christ: If the Lord created earth's wonders and entrusted them to your good care, being careless with them is a sin. Some non-believers treat earth better than do the Lord's very Own children. Therefore, I offer two suggestions:

1) Most people in Hollywood are 'green.' They believe in protecting nature and conserving the environment. If you go green, you share common ground, and common ground builds relationships.

2) Your destiny is to lead others as highly responsible people: to outsiders and among your kin. So be kind to plants and animals. Reduce your waste. Increase your focus on overseeing the earth wisely.

To Be Continued...

* 'In that day the wolf and the lamb will live together;
The leopard will lie down with the baby goat.
The calf and the yearling will be safe with the lion,
And a little child will lead them all.
The cow will graze near the bear.
The cub and the calf will lie down together.
The lion will eat hay like a cow.
The baby will play safely near the hole of a cobra.
Yes, a little child will put its hand in a nest of deadly snakes without harm.
Nothing will hurt or destroy in all my holy mountain,
For as the waters fill the sea,
So the earth will be filled with people who know the Lord' (Isaiah 11:6-9, NLT).

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
