Name Tags: You Are... (Part 37)
Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.
Jeremiah 33:3 (NKJV)
You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
Matthew 5:14-16 (NKJV)
Some days, I don't feel very enlightened. My mind can feel dim, like a weak lightbulb. My eyes can see things, but not so clearly. My mouth can make sparks, but not the good kind. My body can move, but the path seems dark. So how can I be the light of the world? Alone I can't, but through Jesus, I am.

Because at best, we're only reflectors. And when the Best is Christ, we truly shine, which is absolutely the Lord's design. We aren't called to shout brilliant Bible Words. We aren't called to spotlight the sins we see. We aren't called to interrogation lamps. We aren't called to set fire to people's lives.

Actors, models and talent for Christ: You are called to draw people to Christ with a light that's easy on the eyes, that's gentle with awakening minds, that's gracious with encouraging words, that's confident with the steps you take, because you're close on the trail of Christ. He keeps His pace at the speed you need.

Your main job is to pay attention and not to lose sight of your Leader. But when you do (and sometimes you will), go back to His Word, the Source of Light. Listen to worship, the sound of Light. Get into prayer, the path to Light. Ask God's forgiveness, the dawn of Light. Call up godly friends, a band of Light.

Because enlightenment comes from God, and it is a progressional path. Small moments of dullness are preferred to reflecting the father of lies.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
