Name Tags: You Are... (Part 43)
If you continue in My Word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.

John 8:31-32 (NASB)
Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
2 Corinthians 3:17 (NASB)
It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.

Galatians 5:1 (NIV)
For it is God's will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish people. Live as free people, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as God's slaves.

1 Peter 2:15-16 (NIV)
Certainly, everyone wants to live free. While slavery is no longer legal, more slaves exist now than ever before, including in Europe and the U.S.* While I write about internal bondage, no saint should ignore human trafficking. It is a monstrous, real-time tragedy.

But people who are physically free can find themselves spiritually bound: by harmful habits or selfish lifestyles; by idolatry pumped through media; by lies, guilt, fear, despair or self-hatred; by comfortable Christianity. Satan's styles of straps and chains seem endless.

The one Way to spiritual freedom is also the Way to joy unceasing. Surely believers know Him as Jesus: the Lord Who became Man to set us free, and He's waiting on us to spread the news: to model every fashion of freedom, which is not flaunting our physical wealth.

Instead, it's moving over obstacles other people see as impassable: abuse, despair or crushing accidents; tragedies, betrayals or great losses; diseases, addictions or impairments... Christians call them overcoming stories, which they are, and the world needs to hear them.

Actors, models and talent for Christ: I believe freedom is a process, as it was for Christ's first disciples... since chains must be seen to be broken. Could Jesus break them all at one time? Sure, but you need to learn Satan's traps, so you don't fall into them again.

Then tell your stories and share His news.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
