Name Tags: You Are... (Part 53)
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.
If faith, hope and love make God's Top 3 list,* then Hopeful is an outstanding name tag.
If God's Son is the Hope set before us;** 'If faith is the substance of things hoped for' (Hebrews 11:1); if 'The God of hope' fills us with good things; if hope is powered by the Lord's Spirit;***
If His Word says 'Hope does not disappoint' (Romans 5:5, NKJV); if hope set aside will make our hearts sick,...**** then our hope should be cherished and guarded.
But consider one more pertinent Verse: 'For in hope we have been saved, but hope that is seen is not hope; for who hopes for what he already sees?' (Romans 8:24). So...
If hope can't be seen and faith must be blind, then Christians must stop looking like the world: like searching out surface confirmations or believing hope must be rational. If these were true, the Bible would be false. And It's not.
Actors, models and talent for Christ: Grip your hope tightly as an anchor. Yet recall: when an anchor goes deep, it's unseen--except as a lifeline. This lifeline connects you to Jesus, and no person or force can break it. The only way you can go adrift is your own voluntary release.
So don't go there. You are called Hopeful.

* Three things will last forever--faith, hope, and love--and the greatest of these is love' (1 Corinthians 13:13, NLT).
** 'Thus God, determining to show more abundantly to the heirs of promise the immutability of His counsel, confirmed it by an Oath, that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we might have strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold of the hope set before us. This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters the Presence behind the veil, where the Forerunner has entered for us, even Jesus, having become High Priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek' (Hebrews 6:17-20).
*** 'Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit' (Romans 15:13, NKJV).
**** 'Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but desire fulfilled is a tree of life' (Proverbs 13:12 (NASB).
