Name Tags: You Are... (Part 61)
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.
1 Corinthians 13:4-8 (NIV)
I could get sweet and gooey about love. I could watch love's twists on soap operas. I could buy into media's quick-love, whatever-feels-good propaganda blitz.
But the world's greatest Lover is Jesus. He didn't twist love for His Own pleasure. He didn't settle down with just one girl. He didn't focus on His hometown friends or the family with whom He was raised.
His love is broader, deeper and higher. It erases manmade dividing lines. It leaps over walls, ranks, rules and classes.
It reaches out to the unloveable: to lepers, sinners, harlots and heathens. It surprises and disarms enemies. It unites all of creation in God.
This love became a Man known as Jesus: the Hero Who rescues us from death's door; the Savior we all need, but don't deserve.
Actors, models and talent for Christ: No matter what Hollywood pretends...
Love has no relationship with lust. Yet love does charge the heart with passion: a vibrant, stimulating desire to become one with the Lord of hosts. While on earth, this love translates into acts of compassion for all people. So embrace your name tag as Lovers. Show everyone love's truest meaning.
